Xenokrateion Archaeological Museum of the Sacred City of Mesolongi

The Xenokrateion Archaeological Museum was inaugurated in December 2021. It is housed in a historical building with neoclassical features which was built in 1885-1889 as the Municipal Girls’ School with a donation of Constantinos Xenokratis, a national benefactor from east Thrace. The permanent exhibition contains more than 1200 objects covering chronologically the periods from prehistoric to late roman times (100.000 B.C. – 3rd c. A.D.), retrieved from various sites of the Aitoloakarnania region.
