Museum of the fortress complex belonging to the Mourtzinoi

The Museum of the Fortress Complex of Mourtzinoi is housed in a three-storey fortress- residence. The selected exhibits and the rich informational material (maps, engravings, drawings, photographs, scale models) introduce the visitor to the social structures of the Mani area and how these structures influenced the particular local architecture from the Early Byzantine period to the Modern times. Particular emphasis is given on the Post-Byzantine settlements. The Museum of Mourtzinoi and the Museum of Pikoulakis Tower in Areopolis, in Lakonia, are the two poles of the Museum Network of Mani.
