Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis Museum is located 300 meters away from the southern slopes of the Sacred Rock and is engaged in a visual dialogue with the monument. In its galleries, visitors will find exhibited antiquities from the slopes of the hill as well as the city’s most famous sanctuary at the top of the Sacred Rock. The presentation of the wealth and variety of architectural sculptures and the offerings of the Archaic era, such as the famous ‘’Kores and Ippeis’’ (Girls and Horsemen), culminates with the exhibition of the frieze and the pediments of the Parthenon in a specially dedicated gallery. Recently, an ancient Athenian neighborhood, built on the foot of the southern slope of the rock, has been incorporated into the Museum's architectural design as an additional exhibit, shedding light upon the life and activities of the city’s inhabitants from the 4th millennium BC until the 12th century AD.
