Archaeological Museum of Kolona Aigina

Founded in 1829 by Ioannis Kapodistrias, the Archaeological Museum of Kolona was the first National Archaeological Museum of the country. The antiquities presented in the collection were aggregated from various areas of Greece, mainly from the islands, upon their liberation from the Turkish occupation. Today it is located on the south slope of the hill of Kolona and it includes finds, dating from Prehistoric times until Late Antiquity, that originate in their majority from the archaeological excavations held on the hill.
