Ionian Islands

Archaeological Museum of Ithaki

The exhibits of the Archaeological Museum of Ithaki, located in Vathi, shed light upon different aspects of life on the island from the Mycenaean period to the Roman era. The items associated with Homer’s epic poetry and the emblematic figure of Odysseus hold remarkable archaeological significance. From 9-8-2023 in the entrance area and in a room of the museum a temporary exhibition entitled "In the footsteps of Homer: Aetos on Ithaca and the ‘Greek Renaissance’” is hosted. For the first time, the archaeological material from the excavations at the Sanctuary of Apollo at Aetos is presented within its historical and archaeological context. Free admission.
