Ionian Islands

Archaeological Museum of Kerkyra

The Archaeological Museum of Kerkyra, which inaugurated its reoperation in 2018, houses antiquities from the ancient city of Kerkyra and the rest of the island. Its 1,600 exhibits present the history of the island from the Prehistoric period to Late Antiquity. The monumental pediment of the Temple of Artemis, bearing a representation of Gorgon, is of remarkable significance as it is the oldest preserved stone pediment of ancient Greek architecture.
