Archaeological Museum of Schimatari

The Archaeological Museum of Schimatari was founded in 1890 by the Archaeological Society in Athens and is the oldest one in Boeotia. The finds, mostly funeral, enable the visitor to follow the evolution of the art of Tanagra, which is located 5 kilometers south of the city of Schimatari and learn about the myths, the cult, and funeral practices underpinning the artifacts.
