Archaeological Museum of Astypalaia

The exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of Astypalaia covers a vast chronological period from the Prehistoric period to the Middle Ages and presents a variety of artifacts (pottery, inscriptions, sculptures, coins, architectural elements) discovered in various archaeological sites all over the island, such as the settlement of Chora, the Castle and the Kylindra area, the location where the Infant Cemetery was unearthed. The Cemetery, which was reserved for the bodies of newborn babies and a few young children, is a unique discovery where almost 3.000 pot burials were found.
